What Prepaid Card

September 12th, 2008

For a while now, I’ve been thinking of getting myself a pre-paid credit card. The credit crunch is biting us all hard and I thought it would be a good idea to put a few quid on a card each month to spend on niceties such as CD’s and books.

In the process of investigating pre-paid cards I stumbled across Prepaid Cards, a site which allows you to compare pre-paid credit cards. In fact there is a dedicated page of reviews - Prepaid Card Review - which allows you to review various cards by type, all nicely laid out visually with graphics of the actual cards themselves. Nice and easy to navigate.

One which particularly caught my eye was the Cashplus Card, a prepaid Gold Mastercard which looked an excellent product. If this card isn’t for you, you can use the online prepaid cost calculator to recommend the best pre-paid card product based on your spending patterns. You can also enter how much you would like to top-up each week and how much you intend using the card. The calculator will then show you the card fees associated with each product.

It’s certainly an interesting twist on the normal credit card sites, dealing as it does with credit cards you top up in advance.
